About the Recipe
These cookies are a dream come true for anyone who loves the soft, crumbly texture of Mexican wedding cookies—but wants something just a bit simpler. Made with only six wholesome ingredients and no refined sugar, these Maple Pecan Cookies are a modern twist on a classic. They're rich, nutty, citrusy, and coated in a snowy blanket of powdered sugar that makes them truly irresistible.
Best part? No special equipment needed—though a mini cookie scoop and manual nut chopper come in handy if you have them!

Preparation
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
Make the dough:In a large bowl, combine:
Crushed pecans
Salt
Maple syrup
Oil
Orange zest
Flour
Mix well with a spoon or your hands until a soft, slightly crumbly dough comes together.
Adjust the texture if needed:
If the dough is too dry and crumbly, add a bit more maple syrup (1 tablespoon at a time).
If it's too wet or sticky, sprinkle in a little more flour.
Portion the cookies:Using a mini cookie scoop or spoon, scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
Flatten the cookies:Place a second sheet of parchment paper over the scooped dough. Gently press down each cookie with the bottom of a cup to flatten them into neat, round discs. Then remove the top parchment sheet.
Bake:Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden. The tops will remain fairly pale—this is normal.
Cool:Let the cookies cool completely on the baking sheet.
Coat with powdered sugar:Once cooled, place the cookies in a bowl of powdered sugar and toss gently to coat all sides.
